Enables developers and
administrators to easily switch between
different Lotus Notes configurations
Have you ever wanted
to be able to easily backup your
personal Lotus Notes client
configuration files? Have you ever
needed to be able to switch out a
complete Lotus Notes client
configuration and replace it with
another? Have you ever needed to setup a
demonstration account on your system
(complete with separate identity
including a different notes.ini,
names.nsf and Notes desktop)?
Configuration Save/Restore (CfgSave) for
Lotus Notes is a utility which allows
you to easily accomplish any of those
tasks listed.

While the ability to
switch locations from within the Lotus
Notes client provides you with some
identity switching capabilities, CfgSave
provides additional capabilities which
make switching Notes identities easier
and more complete. CfgSave allows you to
save your current Lotus Notes client
configuration to a zip file and easily
restore from a previous configuration.
Additionally, CfgSave allows you to
delete the previous configuration files
after successfully storing the
configuration in the zip file.
CfgSave was designed
to help Lotus Notes developers and
administrators easily switch between
regular and development and/or
administration configurations.
Example Uses
Developers or administrators who are
about to make major changes to their
local Lotus Notes client configuration
can use CfgSave to make a backup copy
prior to implementing any changes or
upgrades.
Developers or
administrators who regularly work with a
large number of databases can use
CfgSave to enable them to maintain a
standard daily workspace plus additional
workspace(s) which contain links to the
multitude of databases they work with
when developing, testing or supporting
the Lotus Domino environment. This helps
eliminate the overload of databases that
developers and administrators must keep
on their Notes workspaces.
Administrators who
regularly switch to administrative ID
files before updating mission critical
databases can use CfgSave to maintain a
completely separate Lotus Notes client
environment when working with the
administrative ID. When switching
between configurations, administrators
will easily be able to tell who they are
working as, and will be able to
eliminate the problems created when they
access a database or databases with the
wrong user ID.
Sales people who
regularly demonstrate Lotus Notes client
applications and need to assume a
completely different Notes personality
for the demonstration can use CfgSave
and eliminate existing batch or manual
configuration processes.
